Wages in budget-funded organizations in focus of Belarus president

The issues of wages in budget-financed organizations were discussed at a meeting chaired by the Belarusian president on 26 May, BelTA has learned.

The draft decrees concerning the issues of wages in budget-funded organizations have been submitted for the consideration of the president, the head of state noted. "We are talking about the services of healthcare and education organizations, sports organizations and so on," he said.

Aleksandr Lukashenko noted that the pandemic affected a number of industries, including the services sector, including the budget-funded organizations that provide services. The president cited a specific example: if previously a sports facility provided services to the population, now it is having problems with attendance and the payment of wages to employees.

But even in the current conditions, all organizations should look for ways to preserve their activities in one form or another, as is the case with the catering industry, the president said. No one in the world knows yet when the pandemic situation will end and what the consequences will be. “It is not about Belarus," the president stressed.

“There are categories of people who cannot find a job today for objective reasons. Of course, such people should be supported," the Belarusian leader said. At the same time, he if a decision on the assistance is taken, this assistance should not be based on the one-size-fits-all approach, the president siad. It is important to determine the categories of citizens and workers who really need it.

Aleksandr Lukashenko recalled that he instructed to analyze and make decisions on relevant issues at the local level as the local authorities can assess the specific situation in more detail and objectively. “We agreed that the governors, the mayor of Minsk would deal with this issue,” the head of state said.

He asked to report on the measures proposed for implementation.

The meeting was attended by Head of Belarus President Administration Igor Sergeyenko, Deputy Head of the Belarus President Administration Valery Belsky, First Vice Premier Dmitry Krutoi and Finance Minister Maksim Yermolovich.
